Great start to the new season
After the last couple of years we have been slightly anxious about the start of the winter season but already this year is looking so much better.
If you have been keeping an eye out on the social media feeds you will have seen the amazing pictures of all the snow that arrived in late November and the early opening of Sestriere last weekend.
The resort is gearing up for a busy and exciting weekend with the Ladies World Cup tour coming to town this weekend.
On Saturday 10th we will see the Giant Slalom race along with DJ’s, fireworks and instructors torchlight descent and the fun continues on Sunday 11th with the Special Slalom races and Apres ski parties.
The resort will be officially open from the 8th December for the season and with the early snow we are looking in great shape for anyone heading out in December.
The Neighbouring resort of Sauze d’Oulx has good snow too above 1700mts so we are hopeful that the links between the resorts will be open for this weekend offering a great variety of skiing in the vialattea region for the start of this winter season.
Temperatures have been cold for the last few days but they are steadily increasing reaching a peak over the weekend which will see the freezing level at around 3000mts. The longer term weather forecast is showing snow possibly coming in the week before Christmas, a nice early Christmas present!
Despite the lack of natural snow below 1700mts, we cannot deny that this has been the best start to the season for a number of years, not too late to grab yourself a cheeky pre-christmas ski trip too!?!
