A change of fortune
Lovely blue skies in Sestriere today and cold temperatures too which has meant that the snow canons have been firing all day. Hopefully this will lead to some more runs being opened soon. keep an eye on here for updates.
Currently we have 3 chairlifts and 2 drag lifts open which service 7 runs, and conditions on piste are good.
Last weekend saw the first decent snowfalls of the season. Overall we had somewhere in the region of 20cm. The next Atlantic weather front should be hitting us around Thursday which, at the moment is forecasting about 20 – 30cm. Snow also plays a role in the forecast for next week although this is too far away to be certain. We’ll keep a close eye on it though.
We are still in need of more snow to enable the links to open from Sestriere to other parts of the Vialattea but there is skiing available in other resorts such as Sauze d’Oulx and Montgenevre which are accessible by road.
The resort is very busy at the moment as we are still in the Italian holiday period, however this ends tomorrow so slopes should be quietening down soon.
After the very mild start to the season it seems as though our luck may finally be changing.
